1979年にニューヨークで行われた
反原発運動のライヴ の続編です。
Jackson Brownの曲"Before The Deluge"
大洪水の前に（環境問題に大変な事が起きるその前に）
と、そんな意味が含まれていると思います。）
僕なりに翻訳してみました。
この曲意味が深くて むずかし～！！ 苦労しました。

計画を推進し、将来について深く考えていた人たちの
一部の人達は未来に夢を持っていた
また、一部の人達は金に目がくらんだ愚か者にすぎなかった
彼達は自然へと戻る旅に発つために。
無害なエネルギーといっしょにツールを集め
ドアーがひらき、砂が滑り落ちて行く瞬間
お互いに心を合わせて非難するために
彼らはゴールドのリングに手を伸ばした！
大洪水の前にこの（混乱、災難）な年がやってきた。
一部の人達は喜びを知っていた
また、一部の人達は痛みを知っていた
そして一部の人達にはそれは単なる今だけの問題に過ぎない
（すぐに忘れ去られる）と映っていた。
そして、恐れを知らぬ躍動的な若者の翼で、彼らは雨の中を飛び回っていた。
彼らの羽は一時は頑丈であっても歳を重ねボロボロに裂け 涙に代わった。
そして彼らが疲れ果てた翼の交換が終わった時、彼らに
（辞職、辞任、諦め）の生活が訪れる。
そして愛の明るさと、はかない輝きを、キラびやかに磨く道具と交換するのである。
大洪水の前に、その瞬間 彼らはその事実を掃き去るのだ
今こそ、音楽によって僕らの気持ちを高めて行こう
そして子供達を安全に守って行かれる場所を築きあげよう
隠された真実を明らかにするために、一歩一歩、一歩一歩
光といっしょに僕達が消滅する時、空に手をのばすんだ。

この地球の美しさを権力へ変える事をを学んだ人達の手により
地球は虐待されていると
彼らはこの星を（そういう人達から）守ろうとするが
最後の瞬間が来た時、地球の怒りの大きさに、ただただ混惑するだけ
そして砂が消え去り、その瞬間が訪れ
むき出しの夜明けには、ごく少数の者しか生き残っていない
そしてこれほどシンプルで、重大な真実を理解しようとする時
彼らが生き残るために選ばれたことを悟るだろう。 大洪水の後も。

いや～コレ翻訳するの大変でしたー。
最初いくつか翻訳サイトで見たのですが、ご存知意味不明・・・
どなたかの翻訳をどなたかがブログに掲載したものも見つけましたが
どうも僕にはシックリこなくて自分なりの感じ方でやってみました。
ご覧になった方で間違いに気付いたら訂正お願いします。
なぜ、そんなに苦労してまでかと言うと、
今の日本の津波、原発問題と社会にあまりにも当てはまる内容で
なぜか日本人として自分がこの時、この曲に触れた事を記録に残して
置きたかったから。
それにしてもこの内容凄すぎないですか？ 社会というのは今も昔も
この状態なのかもしれませんが、彼自身もかなり若い時に書いた詩のはずです。
ココで紹介するフィルムは1976年のステージなのでスリーマイル原発事故の
前に書かれたもの、アメリカでは60年代にこういった環境問題が取上げられる事が
多かったらしいです。 まぁヒッピー時代の始まりでもあるし、ベトナム戦争も
大きく影響していたんですね。
しかしJacksonさん、貴方は深い！
このステージ、全体的に押しが弱いんですが、曲にアレンジもなく
デヴィッド リンドレイのフィドル（ヴァイオリン）がサイコー！！
弦楽器奏者の達人ですね。
